The 18th annual Hannover Marathon on May 4, 2008, includes a walking/Nordic Walking division. The entry fee of just 6 € must be one of the remaining bargains in Europe for American participants. Distances include full and half-marathon, a 10K-run. walk and Nordic Walk, and inline skating, handcycling, walking and Nordic Walking and also a children's event. As a warm-up, the organizers put together a town tour led by a professional guide along the Red Thread, a 4.2K route past the most important sights of the city. The two-hour tour will be given at 3:00 p.m. on May 2 and 3, leaving from the Tourist Information Office across from the Central Station. What an excellent bargain on the entry fee! If only the rest of European prices (and now airfares) were equally enticing!
